Army celebrates World Soil Day with farmers of Kalaroos to educate about Soil Fertility & its Conservation

Kalaroos: Army on Saturday celebrated  World Soil Day with AWAM in Kalaroos, Kupwara  in conjunction with Department of Agriculture, Kalaroos Block.  A str of 100 people mostly farmers attended the event. It was aimed at attracting people’s attention on the importance of healthy soil as well as stress on the importance of sustainable management of soil resources.
 Dr Yakoob Hassan Dar from Agriculture Department addressed the gathering and educated them about causes of soil erosion, soil pollution and how we can encourage soil conservation at the local level. He also briefed the AWAM on measures to be taken at local level in preserving the soil fertility of farm land to increase grain production.
This event also provided a much needed platform for locals to raise their queries with respect to various government schemes on agriculture. Locals also enquired from Dr Yakoob about various anomalies in implementation of PM KISAN SAMMAN NIDHI YOJNA . The agriculture department promised the AWAM to help them in getting the benefits of various schemes of government.
In the end a pledge was taken by AWAM to undertake all such measures which helps in preserving the soil fertility and protect the soil biodiversity.
 Humdard-E-Kupwara Bn/ Hajipir Bde / Vajr Div after the event thanked  AWAM for their interactive participation who in turn appreciated the Army for such initiatives.
