ACB arrests Naib Tehsildar, Rawalpora, Srinagar in disproportionate Assets Case

Srinagar: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case FIR 23/2020 u/s 5(10 (e) r/w 5(2) of J&K PC Act Svt. 2006 in PS ACB Srinagar on 17-11-2020 against Abdul Rashid Malla, Naib Tehsildar Rawalpora Srinagar for acquiring huge assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
“The instant case was registered on the basis of a verification conducted by ACB Srinagar into the allegations that Abdul Rashid Malla, Naib Tehsildar, Rawalpora, Srinagar is in possession of huge assets in the shape of Shopping complex, palatial house etc”, said a statement issued by ACB on Friday. The statement further said “during investigation it was further established that the suspect has received a salary of around Rs 45,00,000/- with effect from year 2008 up to 2019 however, the properties acquired by Abdul Rashid Malla in the said period are worth crores of rupees which is totally disproportionate to his known sources of income”, adding that “omissions and commissions on behalf of the suspect invokes the provisions of section 5(1) (e) of J&K PC Act Svt, 2006”.
Saying that subsequently, after registration of the instant case search warrants were got from the competent court and searches conducted on November 18 this year at various places in district Budgam and Srinagar simultaneously, the ACB said “during searches important documents were seized by the search teams of this bureau”.
The ACB statement further said “ after collection of evidence it has been found that the accused Abdul Rashid Malla S/o Late Ghulam Ahmad Malla R/o Hassipora Chadoora Budgam committed the offence u/s 5(1) (e) r/w 5(2) of J&K PC Act Svt. 2006”, adding that “during investigation it has been found that the accused has acquired properties at different places in District Srinagar and Budgam for which the arrest of accused was mandatory so that the alleged accused could not temper the evidence”.
“On December 4 the accused has been accordingly arrested and he shall be produced before the Court as per procedure. Further investigation in the instant case is going on”, the statement reads further.
