Bandipora police arrests drug peddler, psychotropic substance recovered

B’pora: Police in Bandipora have arrested a drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession.
A police statement issued here on Friday said that a police party from Police Station Sumbal established a checkpoint at Naidkhai and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration no JK02D-6465 with one person on board who after being identified as Sajid Ahmad Qureshi resident of Narbal Srinagar was arrested .
Police in it’s statement further said that the officers were able to recover 20 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from his possession after which he was arrested and shifted to Police Station Sumbal where he remains in custody. Saying that the accused is a Pharmacist by profession and is posted in CHC Hajin, the police in it’s statement said “ the vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized and a case vide FIR No.172/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Sumbal and further investigation has been initiated”.
Appealing people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood, police in it’s statement warned that people indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. “Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace”, the police statement reads.
