Bandipora: According to the District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad 62 candidates shall try their luck in Phase-II of District Development Council (DDC) and Panchayat by-elections in two blocks Nowgam and Ganstan in Bandipora district on 01 December, 2020.
The DPEO said that 16 candidates are in fray for two constituencies of District Development Council while 11 candidates are contesting on 3 Sarpanch seats and 35 candidates are fighting for 17 Panch seats. One Sarpanch and eight Panchs were elected unopposed.
He informed that 18965 voters will exercise their franchise including 9544 in Nowgam block and 9421 in Ganastan block. There are 41 polling stations in these two blocks at 16 locations.
Meanwhile, adequate arrangements have been made possible by the district administration to ensure smooth conducts of polls.
