BC road decongested to facilitate smooth work of Bus Stand Parking Project: Traffic police

Jammu/June,13:Traffic Police City Jammu have taken several regulatory measures to decongest BC road and adjoining areas to facilitate construction of the multi-tier parking cum commercial Complex Project here at General Bus Stand.

As per Traffic authorities, several initiatives have been taken to clear congestion points around the area like main entrance/exit of Bus stand which were causing congestion due to incoming & outgoing   Buses, parking of Sumos, Taveera’s etc near Trikuta complex- due to parking of Kathua bound Buses & Chamb Route Buses, Parking of Buses near Model Academy surplus stranded buses of Kathua/Udr. Route and K.0 Crossing due to parking/Stand of Billawer bound Buses.

The measures were taken in close supervision of SSP Traffic City Jammu and overall directions of IGP Traffic J&K.

The congestion caused by Chamb route buses due to frequent exit and entrance to Bus stand has been cleared by changing the route of these buses. Buses coming from Akhnoor road have been diverted to flyover through Vigilance rotary to Bikram Chowk with ideal parking at Ware House. From Ware House these will follow Jewel route and after a brief halt near St. Peter School will proceed to Maheshpora Chowk. Moreover, Poonch route buses coming through Super Specialty Hospital shall also adopt flyover for Narwal etc.

Similarly,  unauthorized stand of Sumos, Tempos & Taverass has been shifted from outside Khalsa Petrol Pump Bus stand while only authorized vehicles are being allowed to park there which has cleared right tube of BC road.

Likewise, illegal parking of Kathua route, Udhampur route & Chamb route buses on B.C.Road & road leading to Bus stand (Buses waiting for their turn) has been removed by diverting their routes through Bus Stand. Only buses with their turn (almost 2/3) are allowed to park at their designated stops/stands.

Further more than 30 Buses which used to remain parked outside Model Academy road, have been allotted to Kathua route buses near Jewel Chowk Jammu to let passengers board for their onward journey.

Rahya, Serore, Rehal, Purmandal bound Mini buses & Buses have been moved to parking slot near company Bagh outside MA Stadium clearing congestion of Jewel Chowk to Dogra Chowk.

No unauthorized vehicle is being allowed to park on either side of road leading to Canal Road. Frequent lifting of vehicles & use of Public Address system has remained instrumental to make awareness among general public and commuters.

Billawer route Bus Stop at KC crossing causing traffic hindrance at the junction has also been cleared by lifting the Stand & allowing vehicles to pick and drop only from Jewel Chowk.

Inter-State & State Road buses (four to six with ideal parking at Narwal) are being allowed inside Bus Stand premises for facilitating outside State passengers & locals wishing visit outside State. Remaining buses are allowed to park outside Bus stand causing no inconvenience to any commuters.

In addition to the above, among most congested areas, Satwari has also been taken into account and to decongest the area for free flow of traffic and for better traffic Management.

Measures have yielded fruitful results by the continuous efforts carried out by DTI Satwari and the other staff deployed at Satwari jurisdiction:

Mini Buses of Gangyal/Bari Brahamana /Bishnah etc. routes have been diverted and shifted to lane exclusively meant for them so that conjunction at main Chowk could be avoided.

Hawkers/Rehriwallas etc. have been shifted from main road with the help JMC so that lane traffic and pedestrians could be made available. Yellow lining cum- zebra crossing with the help of PWD is under progress which halted due to black toping of the road for the time being.

Meanwhile, delineators’ installation has been done at the cut out portion opposite GB Pant Hospital Road at Satwari so that bikers could not cross from that portion to avoid the possibility of any accident.
