Slathia slams BJP for compromising with Jammu’s dignity

Vijaypur (Jammu): Senior National Conference leader and former minister Surjeet Singh Slathia Friday slammed the BJP for betraying Jammu and compromising with its dignity by superimposing personal interest over public welfare.

“The pretension of self-styled champions of Jammu cause fell flat when rehabilitated the power corridors and forgot all the promises to self-respecting people of the region”, Slathia said while addressing workers at Rampur, Gagore, Palli, Village Rattanpur and Gadwal in Vijaypur as part of the ongoing elections to the District Development Councils.

Slathia said BJP’s betrayal is haunting and hurting Jammu people who reposed their unflinching faith and support to it with the hope that Jammu may perhaps get a better deal as during the days of its wilderness in the opposition, the BJP leaders were crying hoarse over discrimination and neglect.

Referring to the issues confronting the people, Slathia said that the BJP remained instrumental in halting the development and depriving educated youth of jobs, as self interest remained core of their political philosophy. This syndrome is still continuing with its leadership that has exposed the BJP among the people.

Slathia said the BJP is suffering from a peculiar mind block, which does not allow it to see beyond myopic political agenda that is fraught with danger of dividing the society and dismantling the unity. On the contrary, he said the National Conference has a cherished record of public service which is discernible by the development undertaken between 2009 and 2014 under the leadership of Omar Abdullah and earlier during the tenure of Dr Farooq Abdullah. He said the National Conference is synonymous with development and opportunities of progress to all, irrespective of caste, creed, colour and religion. Slathia urged the people to elect the National Conference nominees with a massive mandate, as their support would be to the development of Jammu and Kashmir. On the occasion, several Sarpanchs, Panchs and prominent citizens of the respective villages were present.
