Srinagar: A delegation of Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers Cum Dealers Union (KVFG) led by its Chairman Bashir Ahmad Basheer Thursday called on J&K Bank management to discuss various matters related to fruit business at Bank’s Corporate Office, Srinagar.
Executive President Arun Gandotra led the J&K Bank’s team of top officers including Special Secretary to Chairman and Managing Director Karanjit Singh and Vice- President Manzoor Hussain who participated in the meeting.
The Executive President assured the delegation that J&K Bank will continue to support the fruit growers and dealers’ communityand reiterated their genuine demands will be addressed within regulatory framework.
“Supporting fruit growers and dealers is J&K Bank’s top priority. The fruit growers are a vital and important cog of our economy and J&K Bank will always do its bit to support them at any level. We have a robust mechanism in place with multiple tailor-made schemes for fruit growers aimed at providing them hassle-free credit facilities laced with subsidies from UT and central governments. Many growers across the UT have benefited from these schemes over the years,” said the Executive President.
J&K Bank, the EP said, has, over the years, played an instrumental role in extending benefits to the growers under various government sponsored schemes and packages from time to time. He advised the growers to take full advantage of various schemes designed for the horticulture sector.
Earlier, the KVFG chairman Bashir Ahmad Basheer thanked J&K Bank for their unrelenting support and requested the management for a comprehensive scheme that will help the fruit growers and dealers’ community come out of the difficult times it was facing.
“Fruit growers contribute hugely to the economy of the J&K UT. But, as of now, we are facing huge challenges and difficulties owing to low productivity and a variety of unavoidable reasons. We need support and some relaxations from the Bank in our existing credit facilities vis-à-vis repayment of our loans so that we are able to brave these unprecedented circumstances. We are hopeful that J&K Bank management led by R K Chhibber Ji will take all stake-holders into confidence and devise a comprehensive scheme soon for the revival of stressed fruit industry. ,” said KVFG chairman.
The office bearers of various districts who were part of the delegation included Fayaz Ahmad Malik, Z A Tantray, Mohd Ashraf Wani, G A Dewan, B A Baba, Ghulam Mohammad Shahid, M Y Dar and G M Banday.
