Srinagar/Nov,25: Senior Congress leader and former minister Ghulam Hassan Khan alongwith his associates besides scores of prominent political activists from different parts of Kashmir Valley on Wednesday joined Apni Party at its office in Srinagar.
The new entrants were welcomed by Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Party senior leader Mohammad Dilawar Mir, party vice president Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, state secretary and district Budgam Muntazir Mohi-u-Din, party provincial secretaries Nazir Ahmad Wani (Dailgami) and Abdul Rashid Haroon, district president Srinagar Noor Mohammad Sheikh, Incharge Zadibal Constituency Irfan Naqeeb and Javid Junaid. Besides Ghulam Hassan Khan and his associates like Taahir Ahmad Mir, Imityaz Ahmad Bhat, Peerzada Umar Iqbal, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Saleem Hassan Sheikh, those who also joined Apni Party today included former youth district president Peoples Conference Syed Tabish Bukhari, Farooq Ahmad Dar PDP leader from district Srinagar and his associates–Mukhtar Ahmad, Shahzad Ahmad, Abdul Hamid, Mehraj Ahmad Wani, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Nazir Ahmad Wani, Mushtaq Ahmad Waza, Fayaz Ahmad Dar and Mohammad Yousuf.
Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Hassan Khan said that he was delighted to join the Apni Party as according to him this was the only political platform available to the people of Jammu and Kashmir that believes in truthful politics.
He hoped that the Apni Party under the leadership of its president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari will try its best to address the sufferings of people. “I am confident that under the visionary leadership of Altaf Bukhari sahib, Apni Party will be able to take the people of J&K out of socio-economic quagmire. I had always aspired to work for such a democratic alternative,” he remarked.
While welcoming Khan and other prominent political activists into the party fold, Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said that the genesis of his party revolves round the public service. “We all are here just to serve the people irrespective of positions we hold in the Party. I am confident that with the joining of Mr. Ghulam Hassan Khan, Apni Party cadres will get a boost in South Kashmir particularly in Shopian district,” he added. He also appreciated the joining of all other political workers saying that their joining has added colours to the party. “I am hopeful that all my new colleagues will disseminate Apni Party’s programmes and work to strengthen the party cadres in their respective areas,” Bukhari observed.
