Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar on Saturday impressed upon the divisional administration to ensure all facilities to devotees on the annual Urs Observance of Hazrat Sheikh Syed Abdul QadirJeelani (Dastageer Sahib) RA at all the major shrines of Kashmir in particular at Khanyar and Saraibala Shrines.
While impressing upon the local administration to make all possible arrangements for the forthcoming Urs he said that the Administration miserably failed to provide facilities to devotees on the Eid-e-Milad observance and that the households on the eve of Milad Observance were reeling under darkness. “There is no respite from the frequent power outages since then; the situation has turned into crises. The undue apathy of the government dampened the spirit of people during previous auspicious occasions. Skyrocketing prices of essential commodities in particular dampened the spirit of people during earlier such auspicious observances. It is the day to day life of people that has been hit most due to the steep fall in governance and increasing administrative inertia. I hope the district and divisional administration will now gear up for the upcoming eve of Urs of Dastageer Sahib (RA). I look forward to synchronized effort by the administration and the caretakers of the Dastagir Sahib Shrines at Khanyar, and Saraibala during the Urs days,” he said.
Sagar impressed upon the administration to ensure uninterrupted power supply, steady water deliverance to the Datageer Sahib (RA) Shrines and adjoining areas in view of the forthcoming Urs observance day. “The Dastagir Sahib Shrine, Khanyar unfortunately was damaged in a conflagration. It was Omar Abdullah led government which didn’t spare any effort to restore back the edifice to its pristine glory. Rs 20 Cr was sanctioned by the then Omar Abdullah led government for the reconstruction works,” he said adding that that the shrine along with other shrines despite being the epicenter of the faith of people have been left unattended by all the successive regimes after 2015. He said that the administration should also ensure hassle free traffic on all routes leading to the Shrines at Khanyar, and SaraiBala.
