DPEO sensitises Nodal Officers at Kupwara, reviews preparedness

Kupwara: Deputy Commissioner (DC) also District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) Kupwara, Anshul Garg today convened a meeting of Nodal Officers, appointed for smooth conduct of DDC and Panchayat by-election in the district.
The meeting held threadbare discussion with regard to election preparedness in the district and the DPEO urged upon the officers to work with utmost dedication in their field of activity. He also asked them to implement model code of conduct in letter and spirit to ensure free and fair election in the district.
The DPEO reviewed the progress of all Nodal Officers and got first hand appraisal about the achievements and proceedings.
He also took stock of manpower management, material management ( dispatching and receipt of polling material and electoral rolls), control room activities, training of polling staff, transportation management, expenditure monitoring, coordination with observers, counting of votes , printing of ballot papers, media control room and communication, law & order situation and other required things of the election process.
Addressing the meeting, the DPEO asked the concerned officers to share their contact details with the Election Office for greater coordination.
The DPEO directed the Assistant Labour Commissioner for facilitating the observers in terms of accommodation and transport. He also directed Assistant Commissioner Development to ensure storage and safety of ballot papers in a strong room.
The DPEO asked all nodal officers to seek the directions of Deputy District Election Officer before incurring any kind of expenditure during the election period.
Reviewing the Covid management efforts, the DPEO directed the concerned Nodal Officer to ensure availability of Covid shields, thermal scanners, sanitizers at the polling stations for voters and polling staff.
The DPEO directed the BSNL authorities to compile the contact details of all polling staff for providing them regular updates through SMS including timing for training, location etc.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone, Deputy District Panchayat Election Officer Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Nodal Officers and other concerned were present in the meeting.
