Chief Justice Mittal chairs 2nd Meeting of Arbitration Committee of JKIAC

Jammu: Justice Gita Mittal, Chief Justice High Court of Jammu and Kashmir who is also Patron-in-Chief of Jammu and Kashmir International Arbitration Centre (JKIAC) presided over the 2nd Meeting of Arbitration Committee of JKIAC through Video Conferencing.
All the Members of the Arbitration Committee of Jammu and Kashmir International Arbitration Centre were also present in the meeting.
Justice Sindhu Sharma, Chairperson, JKIAC; Justice Rajnesh Oswal, Member, JKIAC; Justice Javed Iqbal Wani, Member, JKIAC; D. C. Raina, Advocate General for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir;Vishal Sharma, Assistant Solicitor General of India, attached to Jammu Wing of the High Court; Tahir Majid Shamsi, Assistant Solicitor General of India, attached to Srinagar Wing of the High Court; Gaurav Pachnanda, Senior Advocate; AbhinavBushan, Regional Director for South Asia, ICC Arbitration and ADR, ICC International Court of Arbitration, Singapore; and Sh. Moazzam Khan, Advocate, Head Global Litigation, Nishith Desai Associates participated in the meeting through virtual mode.
The Chief Justice and Arbitration Committee for the Jammu and Kashmir International Arbitration Centre discussed and deliberated upon various measures, in order to make the Jammu and Kashmir International Arbitration Centre robust and vibrant on ground. Neeti Sachdeva, Secretary General and Registrar at Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration also participated in the meeting as a special invitee.
The first-time aspirants of Chartered Accountants, Bureaucrats and Engineers who had applied for empanelment as arbitrators and submitted their profiles were considered in the meeting. The detailed interaction was held with the aspirants and the first list of Arbitrators falling in the category of Chartered Accountants, Bureaucrats, Engineers, Architects was decided to be drawn up after the minutes are approved by the Arbitration Committee.
The Arbitration Clause drafted jointly by Gaurav Pachnanda, Senior Advocate, Abhinav Bushan, Regional Director for South Asia, ICC Arbitration and ADR, ICC International Court of Arbitration, Singapore; and Moazzam Khan, Advocate, Head Global Litigation, Nishith Desai Associates was also discussed and deliberated in the meeting and the same was approved to be uploaded on the portal of Jammu and Kashmir International Arbitration Centre.
The Committee interacted with the Arbitrators from different parts of the country. The meeting ended with vote of thanks and words of gratitude by the Chief Justice for the Members as well as Arbitrators who participated in the meeting during the interaction.
Mr. Abdul Rashid Malik, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar (Coordinator Jammu and Kashmir International Arbitration Centre) assisted by Faizan Iqbal and Swati Gupta, Additional Coordinators, coordinated the event.
