Budgam: District Election Officer (DEO) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza Friday chaired a meeting of Nodal Officers to finalize the arrangements for upcoming DDC, Panchayat and ULB elections.
Speaking on the occasion, the DEO said upcoming bye-elections shall be conducted in 8 phases and Notification in this regard has already been issued by State Election Commission J&K.
The DEO instructed all 14 Nodal Officers present in the meeting to abide by all statutory orders in letter and spirit which shall be issued in due course of time. He further instructed them to constitute interim cells for smooth conduct of bye-elections and any issue or details shall be shared with District Election cell duly set up in the office of DEO Budgam.
Since the assignment is sensitive and critical, all Nodal officers must exercise utmost care and seriousness while performing Election duty, the DEO added.
The DEO assured that all necessary support shall be provided once the action plan is formulated by all Nodal officers and exhorted upon the concerned to ensure Men and Material is despatched well within stipulated time and tight security arrangements are put in place for successful culmination of elections in the district.
Taking note of availability and traning of polling staff, the DEO said needful will be done and AROs will be provided sufficient staff besides necessary training for polling staff shall be imparted within the stipulated time.
The DEO urged upon all participants in the meeting to work in coordination and simultaneously ensure that transparent, free and fair elections are held in the district.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADC Budgam, Deputy DEO, ACR, CMO and Nodal officers besides other concerned.
