Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief, Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Wednesday said that the decision to participate as a member of Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) will be taken only after November 15.
In a media report Mir was quoted as saying that the Congress leadership in New Delhi is currently busy in Bihar elections, therefore it would be inappropriate to raise such an issue with them at this juncture.
He added that the J&K unit of congress will be holding deliberations with the party high command soon after the elections will culminate. “We have to take the party high command on board before taking any decision. So, it is difficult for me to talk about this issue at present,” he said.
Mir further stated that any decision vis-à-vis participating in PAGD will be taken only after November 15.
Mir, who was also supposed to participate in the first meeting of the PAGD, couldn’t participate due to his deteriorating health condition, the party had said in a statement.
Later, Mir claimed on the second meeting, he received a delayed invitation and was not present in Srinagar, thus couldn’t attend the meeting.
Notably, the top mainstream leadership in Jammu and Kashmir has forged an alliance to fight for the restoration of special status of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State, which was scrapped on August 05, 2019
