Gram Sabha under TSP held at Iqbal Pora (Khreeti) SD Kokernag

Ang:District Administration Anantnag Monday organized a Gram Sabha at Iqbal Pora Khreeti under Tribal Sub Plan for the villages of Gadwail, Bidhard and Khreeti.
This first of a kind Gram Sabha and need assessment programme was attended by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, KK Sidha along with SDM, Kokernag.
On the occasion, BDC Chairperson, PRI members and tribal people raised a number of issues and demands besides construction of main road connecting all three ST villages.
The DDC on the occasion said the aim of conducting Gram Sabha at the venue is to make the ST population aware of the Govt. proposal for the overall development and has sanctioned Rs. 10cr to redress the grievances and issues of the ST populated villages to ensure plan formation.
He assured the public that their genuine demands would be fulfilled under the Tribal Sub Plan.
DDC directed BDC and PRI members to submit a detailed Tribal Sub Plan regarding the requirements and basic needs of the above three Tribal villages in consultation with concerned officers for submission to his office.
The DDC also asked the PRI’s to identify the educated youth for skill development training and also educated dropouts for financial assistance to continue their further studies.
He also said the need of the hour is to have a collective approach to get rid of the drug menace and added that a mass campaigning has to be launched through various educational and health institutions, NGOs, Religious organizations and at individual level to create mass awareness about the drug abuse, its effects on society and remedial measures.
He said the administration, police and civil society have to work neck to neck to eradicate the menace of drugs from the district.
The G. Sabha was attended by District and Sectoral officers of RDD, Animal Husbandry, PHE, PDD, R&B, I&FC, Social welfare, Education, Health, Agriculture and allied sectors besides, BDC Chairperson, Panchs, Sarpanchs of the said villages and Auqaf committee members, civil society members and prominent citizens.
