Play for Unity, U-19 cricket tournament concludes, SSP Srinagar distributes prizes

Srinagar: Under the Banner of Police Flag Day Celebrations-2020, Srinagar Police held a Cricket tournament of U-19 with the slogan of “Play for Unity” and Cricket Teams from all the Zones of City Srinagar participated in the tournament. On Wednesday the Final Match was played between Khanyar Knight Riders and KMR Tigers Harwan at S. K. Cricket Stadium Srinagar.
The team captains tossed the coin and KMR Tigers Harwan won the toss and choose to bat first. After loosing all the wickets, they could only make a score of 91 runs for the team. In response to this score, Khanyar Knight Riders display an interesting game and after loosing only 02 wickets chased the score easily and scored 92 runs and won the winners title in the tournament and emerged as a strong team in District Srinagar. Sheezan Sofi was declared man of the Match by scoring 47 runs for his team.
At the presentation ceremony, SSP Srinagar Dr M Haseeb Mughal in his brief adress to both the teams quoted a famous phrase, Play the Game and Play it Well and elaborated that in a good game Win or Loss doesn’t matter, what matters is the energy and spirit that you exhibit throughout the game. SSP Srinagar also said that you have been among chosen one that you got the opportunity to play on the international standard cricket stadium and Srinagar Police is proud that we have provided a platform to the budding talent of the district so as to polish their energies in a positive direction. SSP Srinagar also added that we held a Cricket Tournament of 16 teams of Srinagar City some months back and that was also a huge event and the response of the youth of District was overwhelming. Our aim of involvement in only peace as Peace is Prosperity and only peace can change our lives. SSP Srinagar while appreciating the players for their display of the game said that You are the Peace Ambassadors and we want you to take the message of Peace to far corners of the Valley, as we are out for the protection of Life, Property and Dignity of the public and we together can do it.
SSP Srinagar was flanked by all Zonal SsP, SP Headquarters, DySP DAR Srinagar, DySP Headquarters Srinagar, SDPOs Kothibagh, Panthachowk, Khanyar, M.R.Gunj and other officers of the District.
Both the teams were presented with trophies of Winners and Runners up. The Winning team was given a cash prize of Rs 15000/= and the Runner up team was given a cash prize of Rs 10,000/=.The players were presented with individual medals. The spectators enjoyed the game and hailed Srinagar Police for promoting the game and encouraging the youth of the district to participate in the programs meant for welfare of the youth in particular and the society in general.
