Kulgam: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat Friday inaugurated “Police Martyrs” Cricket Memorial Tournament (PMCMT) in presence of Addl. SP Kulgam, M Yousuf here.
The tournament was organised by District Police Kulgam in memory of Police martyrs for the supreme sacrifices of their lives for safeguarding the nation.
While speaking on the occasion, DC assured the participants that the government is committed to provide the platform to the youth to excel in sports so that their talent will be explored and channelized towards positive direction.
The police authorities added that the tournament will be played on a knockout basis in which a total number of 08 teams of the district is participating.
The inaugural match was played between Kulgam Kings and Star Sports Hamidullah Yaripora.
Among others, Dy-SP HQr, Dy-SP’s, SDPO D.H.Pora and other officers were present on the occasion besides a large gathering of the sports lovers.
