Kupwara: The Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kupwara, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat Wednesday inaugurated an orientation programme for Sarpanchs and Panchs of Kupwara district.
The orientation programme is aimed at providing legal literacy to the elected members of Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) and was organised by Jammu and Kashmir State Resource Center and University of Kashmir as a Nodal Agency of Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, New Delhi.
In his inaugural address, the ADDC briefed about the programme in detail and the experts provided techno-pedagogic support to the literacy programme and awareness regarding health issues, financial literacy, electoral literacy and legal literacy.
The PRIs were also provided awareness regarding Dowry Prohibition Act, Domestic Violence and Right to Education.
The programme was attended by Sarpanchs, Panchs besides, concerned officers and experts.
