C Kathua hosts webinar on GeM registration

DIJammu: A WEBINAR cum Training Programme was organized by District Industries Centre, Kathua in collaboration with the GeM, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India for registration on GeM portal, here at conference hall DC Office Kathua.
The event was held on the directions of Commissioner / Secretary Industries & Commerce, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi and overall supervision of Director Industries & Commerce, Jammu, Anoo Malhotra
While welcoming all the participants, General Manager, DIC Kathua, Babu Ram apprised that it is now mandatory for Government Departments to make all purchases through the GeM portal. Similarly, MSME Sector also require to register on GeM to sell their products to Government Departments, he added. The portal is transparent and payments shall be made to sellers in stipulated time period. Sellers can join in any bidding all over the country on competitive rates and can explore the market on PAN India. He also emphasized to on the Industrial Associations to come forward and motivate their associate MSME members to join GeM.
Deepesh Gehlot, Director GeM and Kush Tyagi expert on GeM joined from Chandigarh through Webmail to impart the training for getting registration on the GeM portal.
The participants were also made aware regarding benefits of GeM, process of getting themselves registered and further steps needed to be taken for selling their end products and services.
The WEBINAR was attended / joined by more than 200 participants through online at conference hall DC Office, Kathua. The Entrepreneurs from Handloom and Handicraft Departments also attended the said programme.
During live session, queries and doubts were cleared by the experts. Besides, Officers and Field Officers of District Industries Centre Kathua also attended the programme. The unit holders were requested to feel free to visit DIC or mail us at [email protected]. for any queries.
Ranju Gupta from State Taxes Department Kathua guided the entrepreneurs about the returns and reimbursement process for GST and Sanjeev Sharma, Asstt. Vice President, and Verinder Dhar, Sr. Executive Zonal Office J&K Bank Ltd. Kathua delivered a lecture on NPA and other services of Banks which are for the benefits of unit holders.
Nishtha Nayyar, Assistant Director, Handloom and Handicraft Department Kathua also attend the programme.
The GeM is form of one stop Government e-market place hosted by DGS&D, where common user of goods and service, can procure. GeM is dynamic, self-sustaining and user friendly portal for making procurement by Government Departments.
Major advantages of GeM for sellers are direct access to all Government Departments, One stop shop for bids / reverse auction on products / services, Dynamic pricing, Vendor rating system, new product suggestion facility for sellers, Seller friendly dashboard for selling and monitoring of supplies and payments, and regular new products categories on GeM.
The GeM ensures vendor to get the timely payments from Departments against their supplies & services rendered.
As per General Financial Rules 2017, it is mandatory for all Government Departments to purchase products and services from GeM, thus making it a huge market for sellers & buyers.
The Departments can purchase directly on GeM upto Rs 25000, and above Rs 25000 to 5 lakh, L1 is to be considered. Above 5 lakh, bidding is mandatory on e portal. Under GeM, there is flexibility for sellers that they can make secondary users to look after GeM for them.
For purchase from MSME, there are various benefits of GeM as per Public Procurement policy for MSMEs viz. Policy mandates 25 percent procurement of goods and services from MSMEs, Tenders are free of cost, Purchase Preferences, etc. Vendors with UDYAM registration can get themselves directly registered on GeM. The registration process is online, simple and requires basic documents like Aadhaar No., PAN, Bank Account details etc. Moreover no separate registration is required for seller and service provider.
Besides District Industries Centre Kathua organized Awareness camps in all towns/municipal areas of Kathua District under ”My Town My Pride Programme” on 19 & 20 of Oct,ober 2020.
The awareness was done regarding Prime minister Employment Guarantee Programme (PMEGP), Industrial Development Scheme 2017, State Package, Udhyam, GeM and Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan.
