Srinagar: Chairman People’s Democratic Front (PDF ) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Saturday slammed the Jammu & Kashmir Government for announcing property tax in Jammu and Kashmir and demanded it’s immediate roll back.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, Hakeem while demanding immediate roll back of the announcement said that any decision to impose property tax over the people of Jammu & Kashmir is inimical to their causes of economic prosperity and commercial interests. Terming it an obnoxious move, Hakeem said it would economically cripple the already collapsing economy of the people of Jammu and Kashmir .Asking the government to take a serious view of the prevailing economic environment, hit by hartals, curfews and other disruptions during last several years in Jammu & Kashmir, Hakeem said financial plight of the tourism and travel operators and fruit growers speaks volumes about the crippling and collapsing economy of the people of Jammu & Kashmir and as such announcement to impose property tax over hapless populations should be withdrawn immediately and forthwith .
