DDC Srinagar for creating mass awareness about PMAY, NULM

Srinagar/June,8: A meeting of District Level Review Committee (DLRC) was conducted under the Chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Srinagar Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone to review the progress achieved at the end of March 2017, under DCP 2016-17.

The meeting was attended MLA Mubarak Gul who was specially invited for the meeting. The meeting was also attended by AGM RBI, representative from NABARD besides banks and sponsoring agencies operating in District Srinagar.

LDM Srinagar while initiating the proceedings of meeting extended warm welcome to the participants and apprised the forum about progress achieved at the end of March 2017 under DCP 2016-17.

He informed the forum that at the end FY 2016-17 District Srinagar has disturbed Rs.1152.59 crore against the target of Rs. 3025.62 crore thus achieved a growth of 38% under priority sector and Rs. 2196.47 crore has been disbursed against the target of Rs. 2904.26 crore registering a growth of 56% under Non-Priority Sector.

Meeting was informed that Rs.11.14 crore have been disbursed among 628 beneficiaries under various special Central/State Govt. sponsored schemes during the financial year 2016-17.

DDC Srinagar stressed for enhancement in the overall credit flow of Banks in the District providing much needed financial impetus improve income levels and thereby raising standard of living of the society.

He further said in downtown locality six or seven families are residing in a single house and PMAY (Housing for all) is a very feasible for such type of families.

Meeting was further informed that National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) is another scheme which has a lot of potential in Down Town locality. DDC Srinagar called for creating mass awareness of these schemes in print and electronic media so that more and more people take benefit from it.

DDC also advised the representatives of financial institutions and sponsoring agencies to come forward for eradicating menace of unemployment and reaching out with banking and financial services to the poorest of poor.

He further emphasized that all Banks operating in the District should organize financial literacy camps particularly in the rural and semi urban belts of District Srinagar to educate and aware masses about various Banking products and Govt. Sponsored schemes. Besides he impressed upon the Banks operating in District Srinagar to improve their CD Ratio. The meeting was concluded with a vote of thanks to the participants.
