Govt’s grievance system witnesses massive response from people: Advisor Khan

Bandipora: Advisor to Lieutenant, Farooq Khan Monday said Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) act as the building blocks of overall development of any region and the government is committed to further empower the PRIs in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Advisor made these remarks while speaking at Back to Village-3 programmes held at Naidkhai and Asham Panchayat Halqas of Bandipora district.
“Panchayats are being empowered as never before. The government is committed to further empower Panchayati Raj Institutions so that the rural scene in entire J&K will change for good,” Advisor Khan said while addressing a B2V-3 programme at Asham area of Sumbal Sonawari.
Advisor Khan observed that the Back to Village flagship programme has helped people to know about their rights with respect to governance and delivery.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Owais Ahmad; SSP Bandipora, Rahul Malik; Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmed Mir, SDM Sumbal, BDC chairpersons, Sarpanchs and Panchs of Asham and Naidkhai Panchayat Halqas and other concerned were also present.
On the occasion, PRI representatives and locals alike raised several issues and public demands pertaining to drinking water facility, augmentation of power sector in their respective areas; playing fields for youth and children, besides the issues of road widening and macadamization of interior roads in their respective areas.
At Asham, several public deputations put forth their grievances, demands, issues and problems before the Advisor which include earth filling of land at Sofipora Asham area for playing field in their vicinity; augmentation of water supply scheme; upgradation of High School Asham to Higher Secondary School; facilities for apple growers and farmers in the area; erections of transmission lines, poles transformers in their area.
Similarly, civil society of Asham demanded a motorable bridge on Jhelum River in order to connect 20 villages to the nearby location of Sumbal Sonawari.
Advisor Khan patiently listened to all the grievances and assured the public deputations that all their genuine demand would be taken up with the concerned quarters for speedy redressal.
On the occasion, Advisor Khan also announced that Asham–Bonpora water supply scheme has been finished and would be dedicated to the local inhabitants very soon.
Advisor Kahn also distributed Domicile Certificates, sports kits among sports players and wheelchairs and crutches among beneficiaries.
Earlier at Naidkhai, several public deputations, youth and sports associations and PRI representatives presented charter of demands before the Advisor.
The demands include upgradation of health Centre with X Ray facilities, technicians and posting of doctors during night hours; repair of Naidkhai–Shahgund road and other interior roads of the block; development of sports stadium; issuance of timber for construction purposes. Besides, the deputations raised the issues of poor power supply, drinking water supply in Shahgund area, ambulance facility, horticulture center for apple growers, upgradation of Girls High School, funds for bridge, protection wall for Ferozepore Nallah, compensation for farmers whose crops were damaged in 2019 snowfall, sanction of new Anganwadi Centers; issuance of NPHH ration cards to deserving population etc.
Advisor Khan held a patient hearing to the public deputations and said the government is committed to sort out all issues pending since decades.
“All the issues and grievances will be addressed in a time bound manner. People have to be patient as the resolution of pending issues will take time. We are here to listen to you and to solve your main issues which haven’t been addressed since many decades,” Advisor Khan told public deputations at Naidkhai.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Owais Ahmed informed that during 14th FC many development works have been taken up and several also have been completed.
He said during Jan Abhiyan period of 21 days around 1,11,000 Domicile Certificates have been issued in the district, besides 100 percent saturation of different welfare schemes, and macadamization of main and interior roads during the same period.
ADC, Zahoor Ahmed Mir, BDC Chairman Naidkhai among others also spoke on the occasion.
