Srinagar: In order to inculcate & promote sports spirit among the youth and build healthy Police-Public relations, besides taking forward youth friendly policing initiative particularly in rural areas, under aegis of CAP (Civic Action Programme), Handwara Police Cricket League 2020 is set to kick-off on Oct 3rd at Sports Ground Bakihakar.
In the opening ceremony, first Cricket match will be played between BCC Bakiaker V/S HCC Reds Handwara. The chief guest of the event will be DGP Dilbagh Singh-IPS.
These sports tournaments are organized by Police Handwara under Civic Action Programme to explore the talent/capability of youth to prove themselves and to spread the message of Peace. In the colourful tournament 32 cricket teams involving more than 450 players of Handwara will be given opportunity to display their talent in the tournament which will be played on knock-out basis. The teams have been divided into four pools.
Community members and youth of the area have appreciated the efforts of Handwara police and expressed hope that police will provide them similar platform in future to show case their talents.
