Srinagar: Expressing his serious concern over burgeoning un employment problem in jammu and kashmir, Chairman People’s Democratic Front ( PDF) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Wednesday slammed government for its utter failure to fill up about 80000 vacancies lying in various departments.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Hakeem said unemployment problem in jammu and kashmir has reached to an alarming proportion. He said contrary to the tall claims and press statements about fast tracking recruitment process to fill up existing about 80000 vacancies in various departments, nothing has been done in practical on the ground. He said government has miserably failed to devise a suitable job policy for the unemployed youth. “As a result of the lackadaisical approach of the government, the un employed youth of jammu and kashmir have been pushed to wall and they are becoming the soft prey to drug addiction and other social evils, ” Hakeem Yaseen said while urging the Center to sanction a comprehensive employment package for the youth of trouble torn jammu and kashmir. He has also demanded to fast track recruitment process to fill up all the existing vacancies in various government departments besides sanctioning an exclusive employment package to recruit local youth in various central government departments and public sector undertakings ( PSUs). He said since jammu and kashmir is situated at a geographically disadvantageous location and there was limited scope for major industries, so government must explore all possibilities to provide jobs to the local youth in public sector and over sease job market. ” Government should revive Overseas Employment Corporations to identify job avenues in the world job market so that local un employed youth are guided and facilitated to get jobs for them.
PDF Chairman has also demanded regularisation of all contractual , daily rated (DRW) , casual , Hospital Development Fund (HDF) workers and doctors , paramedics and management staff working under NHM.
Hakeem urged the government to ensure hassle free transportation of fruit upto other terminal fruit markets of the country to facilitate fruit growers and traders sell their produce conveniently. He said Srinagar- Jammu National Highway should be kept open round the clock for fruit laden trucks. He has urged the government to address complaints of fruit growers regarding poor arrangements of fruit transportation and harassment and hinderences caused to truck drivers enroute Srinagar- Jammu National – Highway. He said since horticulture sector is the backbone of jammu and kashmir’s economy, government should take all possible measures to bring fruit growers and farmer’s community out of the huge economic losses confronted during last two years especially due to post August 5 last year situation and continued lockdown on account of Coronavirus pandemic.
