Kashmiri’s face discrimination in police and judiciary: Er Rasheed

Srinagar/June,8: Coming down heavily on Narendra Modi government AIP Supremo and MLA Langate Er Rasheed has said that by not appointing even a single Kashmiri out of the three judges, appointed recently to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court New Delhi’s nefarious designs to marginalise the majority community of the state stand exposed.
In a statement Er Rasheed said, it looks so strange that in a Muslim dominated state out of twelve judges working in high court, there are just two judges hailing from Kashmir. The central government has not only eroded everything which Kashmiris enjoyed at the time of temporary accession but has made its inroads to the dangerous intolerable level. The irony is that Mehbooba Mufti led PDP is not only keeping mum over such sensitive issues but has shamelessly surrendered its conscience”.
Er Rasheed appealed High Court Bar Association to take serious notice of the matter and added that the association should play a role to deal with the burning issue.
He lashed out at Mehbooba Mufti for choking the promotion prospects of KPS cadre to the ranks of DIG’s and IG’s. He said “there can be nothing shameful than the fact that PDP has given in to BJP over this important issue. While till mid sixties the presence of IPS and IAS officers was negligible in the state, but then onwards the situation has been completely reversed.Just giving local police cadre the monetary benefits by bringing their pay scale equivalent to that of DIG’s and IG’s, but debarring them from functioning as DIG’s or IG’s is shameful and by doing so government is giving a notion that as if local cadre officers are beggars and need just monetary benefits”.
Er Rasheed alleged that all these moves are part of BJP’s plan to have a complete merger of Jammu and Kashmir in the Union of India and Mehbooba Mufti is becoming like a carrier to implement the nefarious designs of BJP. Er Rasheed reminded local police cadre that even street boys have been often advising them that it is a state policy of New Delhi to use Kashmiris and then throw them to the dust bin and the local police officers should learn a lesson the way they have been awarded.
