Bandipora: Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir Saturday distributed horticulture tools among orchardists during Jan Abhiyan campaign in Sumbal Sub-Division.
Mir handed over 64 agricultural tools including 2 tractors, 5 tillers, 7 weeders among farmers of the Sumbal Sub Division besides Brush Cutters, Ampi-Sprayers and Motor Chain Saws. Rs 14 lac subsidy was also distributed among farmers and orchardists under different schemes of the Department of Horticulture.
Speaking on the occasion ADC Bandipora said the Government is keen to give a flip to the agriculture and horticulture sector to double the income of the farmers and orchardists. He said for the purpose efforts are being made to use modern farming techniques to improve the crop production. He said the scientists are regularly interacting with the farmers and orchardists and making them aware about modern techniques besides providing high yield plants.
While emphasizing on keeping farmers informed with various significant schemes, Mir urged the officers and PRI representatives to inform the farmers about several schemes rolled out for the farmers. He said the Government is implementing the Crop Insurance Scheme to boost the agriculture sector.
During the interaction with the ADC, farmers apprised him about their problems and grievances. ADC gave them patient hearing and passed on-spot directions for redressal of their grievances.
Later, the ADC also attended a function organized with regard to the Poshan Maah. The ADC stressed on providing quality nutrition to the children and directed the officers to ensure that a balanced diet is provided to the children in Anganwari centres.
He said Poshan Abhiyan or National Nutrition Mission is Government of India’s flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers. He said the Abhiyaan directs the attention of the people towards the problem of malnutrition and addresses it in a mission-mode.
The program was held in collaboration with Nasha Mukt Baharat campaign. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dr. Bashir Lone was also present on the occasion.
