Srinagar: To complement the Rajouri and Poonch Police for recent achievements the Director-General of Police Dilbag Singh Sayurday day visited border district Rajouri where he chaired officers meeting, reviewed security, Law & Order, crime, militancy scenario and measures taken in view of COVID-19 of Rajouri and Poonch Range.
The DGP was accompanied by ADGP CID R. R. Swain. He was received by IGP Jammu Mukesh Singh, DIG Rajouri Poonch Range Vivek Gupta, SSP Rajouri Chandan Kohli, SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral and other gazetted officers. He was presented guard of honour at DPO on his arrival.
Addressing the officers in the meeting the DGP appreciated the achievements of personnel and security forces on militancy and on anti-narcotics front. He said by arresting the militants and their associates along with arms & ammunition is always a big achievement as a probable attack has been thwarted and lives saved. He said similarly busting Narco militancy is a huge success thus the lives of our youth have been saved and the evil designs of funding militant activities foiled.
He said the work done by the teams of Rajouri police and Poonch Police along with army and other security forces has set an example of inter-district coordination. The DGP said that Jammu and Kashmir Police is accomplishing the goal of peaceful environment in Jammu and Kashmir.
Complementing the officers for their work during the current year despite the COVID -19 threat, the DGP said that we cannot lower the guard on the security front and added that lot needs to be done in future. He highlighted that the public grievance system needs to be further toned up. He said that we are expected to perform better by monitoring things on daily basis and to stay within deadlines.
The DGP J&K directed the officers to work with enhanced synergy and coordinated efforts to uproot the militancy, militant network and narco-militancy in the Range. He emphasized upon the officers to strengthen the intelligence grid and ensure input sharing for sharp action by the forces. He emphasized for regular interactions/briefing of the subordinates at different levels.
The DGP emphasized that Police Public meetings should be conducted on regular basis. He said that people’s cooperation in the fight against narco-militancy and other crimes is must. He directed jurisdictional officers to seek people’s cooperation in the fight against drug abuse and other social crimes.
Besides ADGP CID J&K R R Swain the meeting was attended by IGP Jammu Mukesh Singh, DIG Rajouri Poonch range Vivek Gupta, SSP Rajouri Chandan Kohli, SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral, CO 38 RR Ravinder Singh Mann, and other jurisdictional gazetted officers of Rajouri district.
At the beginning of the meeting DIG Rajouri Poonch Vivek Gupta along with SSP Rajouri Chandan Kohli gave a detailed briefing regarding the security, law & order and other social crimes to the DGP and other senior officers via PowerPoint Presentation.
Addressing the media persons the DGP said that Jammu Kashmir Police, Army and other government forces are working hard to maintain peace and order in the Jammu and Kashmir. He said that twin border districts Rajouri and Poonch of Jammu have been witnessing militant infiltration bids and added that due to synergy and close liaison between the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and other security forces many of such acts are thwarted on the border and in the hinterland successfully.
Speaking about the arrest of three LeT militants, the DGP said Rajouri Police along with Army’s 38 RR had launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the general area of Gurdan where suspected three persons carrying a bag each were spotted. They attempted to flee after throwing a grenade on the search party but the grenade did not explode and the brave personnel of police and army managed to nab all of them along with huge cache of arms/ammunition. He said the arrested militants have been identified and all hail from South Kashmir. The DGP said that few days back Poonch Police along with army arrested two militant operatives and seized arms & ammunition from them. He also said that Rajouri Police with the assistance of Poonch police busted a narco-militancy module by recovering 11Kg of heroin during the past few days. This is a huge catch cost of which runs into crores of rupees and the sale proceeds of this were to be used by Hizbul Mujahideen outfit to finance militancy related activities in J&K.
