G’bal:  Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, KK Sharma Wednesday said Jan Abhiyan is aimed at to improve service delivery and redress the public grievances within the shortest possible time and achieve cent percent saturation of beneficiary oriented schemes.

He said this during his visit to district Ganderbal to inspect the proceedings of Block Diwas, an initiative under Jan Abhiyan which began Wednesday in all blocks of the district. The Advisor participated in the Block Diwas proceedings of block Ganderbal and block Kangan.

District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal, SSP Ganderbal Khalil Poswal, besides other district and police officers accompanied the Advisor.

The program witnessed enthusiastic participation of people and PRI members of different Panchayat whereat they apprised the officers about their grievances and sought early redressal of the same. The officers of all line departments were available at all Blocks to hear the public grievances.

The line departments had also installed stalls at all blocks where they provided information to the people regarding several welfare schemes offered by their departments. Handholding in the form of financial assistance was also provided to the beneficiaries at the Block Diwas.

During his visit to block Ganderbal, Advisor Sharma handed over cheques worth Rs. 14 lakh among beneficiaries under Labour Assistance Scheme. Besides, paddy thresher, passbooks under KCC, hearing aids, Income Certificates, etc. were also handed over to the beneficiaries by the Advisor.

Speaking on the occasion, the Advisor Sharma said Jan Abhiyan and Back to Village programs have been launched with the purpose to reach out to the people at their doorsteps to listen their grievances and meet the developmental aspirations of locals.

While briefing on forthcoming B2V3, the Advisor said during the 3rd phase of B2V the visiting officers (gazetted) will stay for 3 days and 2 nights in their respective panchayats to listen to the grievances and assess the development needs of the people. “The main focus will be on doing development rather than talking development: he added.

At Kangan, the Advisor said main aim of organizing the Jan Abhiyan is to reach to the remote areas of the UT so that benefits of the welfare schemes reach to every beneficiary. He urged upon the officers to ensure that the certificates which are needed for applying various benefit oriented schemes shall be issued to the people well in time.

The Deputy Commissioner also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of active participation of people in Block Diwas. To mitigate the issues and grievances of people, the district administration has started to listen to the public issues, grievances and demands on a daily basis from 10:30 am to 11:30 am except Wednesdays and Sundays, he added.

Meanwhile the Advisor distributed Domicile Certificates and Income Certificates among the beneficiaries at Kangan.

Later, the Advisor paid obeisance at Sufi Shrine, Syed Qamrudin Bukhari and prayed for peace, prosperity and well-being of people in J&K.
