Srinagar/Sept,16 : Gayoor Foundation has said the it would strive hard to address the unattended and unresolved issues concerning preservation Kashmiri language and culture.
In statement issued here on Wednesday the Foundation while recalling, it’s day-long meeting of distinguished poets & literary personalities of Maraaz held on last Sunday at Pulwama with proper observations of SOPs in view of covid19 said that the participants of the meeting unanimously resolved to preserve Kashmiri language and develope it on the pedestal of its 800 year old rich treasure of ar and literature. However the participants of the meeting warned that efforts from any quarter to deviate from its Indo-Persian script won’t be tolerated under any circumstances. Participants equivocally placed on record their strong observation that Kashmiri language is the identity of the people of Kashmir and no one will be allowed to fiddle with their ages old cultural legacy ‘The Waraasut’. Subsequently the participants of the meeting also decided to register the foundation with Government & autonomous cultural organizations of the country. The propositions were put forth by Prof (Dr) Shaad Ramzan. Others who also spoke on the occasion include Syed G M Andrabi,Mir Ghulam Rasool Pampori, Raashid Rashid, Abdur Rehman Fida, Dr Shafi Ayyaz, Ashraf Ravi, Bashir Nadim, Syed IzharMubashir, Khaleel Masroof, Bashir Shab Nadim, Fayaz Dilgeer & Ghulam Muhammad Malik Baber.
The participants of the meeting also announced that yearly Gayoor memorial awards will be given to writers, poets, journalists, artists, social activists, lawyers, bureaucrats, meritorious students, business men and people from other fields of public activity for their contributions in their respective fields. The Foundation also decided to set up different committees to take decisions concerning Gayoor Memorial awards , said Prof ( Dr) Shaad Ramzan in his presidential address. Showkat Gayoor, the President of the foundation in his welcome address spoke about the agenda of the meeting & also paid vote of thanks at the end of function. He also elaborated main aims & objectives of the foundation.Showkat Gayoor also assured the participants of the meeting that he will endeavour to act upon the suggestions taken by the participants & will work as a solider for enrichment of Kashmiri literature & culture to which the foundation is committed to.
Kaleem Bashir, General secretary of the foundation conducted the proceedings of the meeting which continued from 11:00 Am to 5:00 pm . Sr Vice President S G M Andrabi , underscored the need for efforts to bring Kashmir literature on digital formats so that it reaches younger generation world wide. Ashraf Raavi a budding critic & translator in his speech underscored the need for tapping the untapped cultural potential of Maraaz to encourage poets & artists besides ending their exploitation by vested interests in the cultural field. The meeting was presided over by a renowned educationist, writer & poet Prof Shaad Ramzan. Delegates of Cultural organizations from South Kashmir ‘Maraaz’ viz-a-viz Nou Adbi karwaani, Green velley cultural foundation ans others also attended the meeting . Day long deliberations centered around various pressing issues facing Kashmiri language, Art & culture.
Mir Ghulam Rasool Pampori enlightened the participants with the overall historical background of Kashmiri language. The other dignitaries from different walks of life who were present at the meeting include, Sikandar Irshad,Mir Mujahid,Er Wali Muhammad Dar, Muzaffar Gazaal, Muhammad Iqbal Warsi, Jehangir Ahmad Ayyaz, Nadir Ehsan, Fayaz Dilgeer, Shabnum Fayaz, Manzoor Ahmad Derhamie, Fayaz Ahmad Fayaz, Mir Muhammad Akram, Ghulam Hassan Kuchay, Wali Mohammad Dar Tayir, Ghulam Ahmad Dar, Dr Mir Bilal Ahmad, Mudasir Ahmad Dar, Dr Shahbaaz, Aadil Ahmad Bhat, and M A Bhat.
