COVID-19: J&K records biggest-ever single day spike of 1316 cases, tally mounts to 43,557

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday recorded biggest-ever spike of 1,316 cases of COVID-19 pandemic including 100 travelers, thus taking the total number of positive cases to 43,557 in the Union Territory.

Of the total 43,557 cases, 31,739 are from Kashmir and 11,818 from Jammu division.

Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 1,316 new cases, 648 belong to Kashmir division while as 668 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 31,739 including 25,156 recoveries while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 11,818 including 7,171 recoveries and 98 deaths.

The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 10,446 including 5,897 from Kashmir division and 4,549 from Jammu division.

With 403 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 32,327, which is 74.21 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 185 from Srinagar, 59 from Baramulla, 49 from Pulwama, 69 from Budgam, 61 from Anantnag, 32 from Bandipora, 93 from Kupwara, 11 from Kulgam, 07 from Shopian and 82 from Ganderbal in Kashmir division while as 668 from Jammu division include

451 from Jammu, 42 from Rajouri, 31 from Kuthua, 17 from Udhampur, 28 from Samba, 10 from Ramban, 36 from Doda, 26 from Poonch, 08 from Reasi and 19 from Kishtiwar,” officials disclosed.

As per officials figures, 10,165 positive cases including 237 deaths and 8,499 recoveries are from Srinagar, 3,048 including 104 deaths and 2,360 recoveries are from Baramulla, 2,856 including 2,304 recoveries and 57 deaths are from Pulwama, 2,867 including 2,067 recoveries and 65 deaths are from Budgam, 2,560 including 52 deaths and 1,968 recoveries are from Anantnag, 2,365 including 1,642 recoveries and 26 deaths are from Bandipora, 2,382 cases including 1,627 and 54 deaths are from Kupwara, 1,997 including 1,829 recoveries and 38 deaths are from Kulgam, 1,746 including 1,631 recoveries and 28 deaths are from Shopian and 1,753 including 1,247 recoveries and 25 deaths are from Ganderbal.

In Jammu division, 5,353 including 2,319 recoveries and 63 deaths are from Jammu district, 1,031 including 819 recoveries and 06 deaths are from Rajouri, 1,070 including 759 recoveries and 09 deaths are from Kuthua, 998 including 748 recoveries and 04 deaths are from Udhampur, 828 including 582 recoveries and 04 deaths are from Samba, 702 including 651 recoveries and 01 death are from Ramban, 529 including 377 recoveries and 05 deaths are from Doda, 506 including 369 recoveries and 05 deaths are from Poonch, 447 including 339 recoveries are from Reasi and 354 including 208 recoveries and 01 death are from Kishtwar.

As per the daily information bulletin, 477,902 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 41,386 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 10,446 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 376,497 persons have completed surveillance period and 48,789 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 1,074,998 samples are available.

Out of 1,074,998 the number of samples tested negative stands at 1,031,441 while 43,557 have tested positive, among them 10,446 are active and 32,327 persons have recovered—(KNO)
