Srinagar/Sep,2 : Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) said on Wednesday that it demolished over hundred structure in last fifteen days in several parts of Srinagar City.
In a statement issued on Wednesday SMC said areas where the structures were demolished include Hamdania colony Bemina, Hyderpora , Sanat nagar, Raawalpora, Soura , Lal Bazaar , Zakura, Khanyaar, Batamaloo, Chanpora , Padshahi Bagh, Mehjoor Nagar,and many other pats of Srinagar city.
“The SMC officials have also stopped work of all those structures at a very initial stage which had deviations in sanctioned building plans and the structures coming up without permission”, the statement reads adding that “the unauthorised constructions were both commercial and residential in nature”. Commissioner SMC Gazanfar Ali had strictly directed the enforcement wing to act promptly in getting the illegal structures demolished on spot where ever found.
“SMC shall be continuing rigorously with the demolition drives with regard to unauthorized construction and will ensure that no illegal construction comes up in the city further stressed Commissioner SMC”, said the statement attributed to Gazanfar Ali the Commissioner SMC.
“I make a fervent appeal to the citizens of Srinagar who aim to construct residential/commercial establishments to apply for proper building permissions from Competent Authority and not to take law and order in their hands” said Ali. He further reiterated that people should desist from resorting to any violations in sanctioned building permissions as well and do away with any sort of illegal construction.
