Covid has not merely encroached the human body but far beyond that. It has put life on hold. Surprisingly! it has put humans in cage and let the caged creatures to shrithe freely and fearlessly. It seems that life has come to a grinding halt. This perilous entity has made life extremely challenging. My core concern is towards the unemployment being triggered by this virus. Since this reckless virus has led to economic devastation due to which millions of youth have been rendered jobless in India. The life of youth has come to such a spot where they hardly find any source of mitigation which will make their life a bit easier. They are now in a state of ambiguity. As many as 41 lakh youth in the country lost their jobs due to COVID 19 pandemic while construction and farm sector workers account for majority of job losses according to a joints report by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Asian development Bank(ADB).In addition to this workers engaged in the tourism and hospitality sectors also account for majority of job losses. The fact is that the companies make up their losses only by terminating the workers and by lessening their salaries.
One of the reports cites three ways in which young people are affected in the current crisis. These are job disruptions in the form of reduced working hours and earnings, and job losses for both paid workers and the self-employed; disruptions in their education and training; and difficulties in transitioning from school to work, and moving between jobs in a recession. The challenges during pre-pandemic period have become more amplified during this pandemic period leading to the addition of a pile of challenges already present. It has been found that almost 13 crore youth have lost their jobs during this harsh period. This escalation in unemployement process has resulted in halting the growth of an individual. It is usually seen that an employed youth loves to own property, vehicles etc to live a hostile life.
Although there are sectors which are doing good despite this pandemic including Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, e- commerce, IT services etc.
One of the imperative and most concerning issue is that the unemployment process makes a person to fall in avaricious activities and even makes him prey of mood disorders especially depression.
Amid this pandemic such desires hardly are pursued by the youth which degrade their growth process. One report reveals that more than 1.8 crore salaried employees have lost their job since pandemic and at least 50 lakh of them have reported in july. The report added that youth unemployment rate would climb over 32 percent if the same situation continues. Loss of job will not only hamper the individual economy but also decline the national economy as well. So this matter is most unfortunate and significant as well. The report also suggests that to overcome this jumbo unemployment rate India has to add 1 crore jobs per annum in order to counter this rate.So compensating such a huge rate by this means would definitely let the companies to hire the subjects on less salaries and large working hours. The economic losses hamper the GDP to grow more than 1% to 1.5% this year.
This however resulted in increase in the suicide rates in this country. So to my mind government is the only source which might prove elixier to eradicate this unemployment issue. Government should thus furnish more and more job opportunities in less time in order to cater the hit population to uplift both the individual as well as national economy. This will therefore help the nation to progress and keep people engaged in the work which eventually will lead to lowering the suicide rate as well.
