1.41 Crores fraud; Crime Branch Jammu registers FIR against gang of cyber fraudsters

Jammu: Case FIR has been registered with Crime Branch Jammu against a gang of Cyber fraudsters – (1) Vivek Kumar S/O Raj Pual R/O Village Phaphotu-Etah Umarpur Fafotoo Phophotoaligant 36 NaiBasti, Etah Distt. Etah (UP; (2) Shyam Pal S/O Rakshpal Singh R/O PataraNaglaNahar, Ferozabad (UP) 3) Jagdish Chander Sharma S/O Samay Singh R/O H.No.A-17 Gali No.2 Om Nagar MithepurExtn. Jaitpur South Delhi; 4) Jaikant Kumar S/O Shakhi Chand Dal R/O H.No.113 Gali No.16. Vill. WazirabadBurari North Delhi and 5) Pushpendar S/O Ramdas R/O AmariNaglaJiwan, Tehsil Ferozabad, UP for duping the complainant to the tune of ? 1.41 Cr through impersonation as officials of Ministry of Finance (GoI) by luring him to invest in a Canadian IPO (Initial Public Officer) to get Rs. 10 crores as return after 16 years maturity.
According to statement issued here on Saturday reads, Lt. Col. Sardar Singh Smotra S/O Late Sadhu Ram R/o 17-A, Extension Gandhi Nagar Jammu in written complaint to Crime Branch Jammu alleged that he was trapped by a group of professional cheats who never met him but communicated telephonically and induced him to transfer his hard earned money in installments into their accounts through the RTGS. The total amount transferred by him into the accounts of these fraudsters is ? 1.41 Cr. He further alleged that on 11.7.2019 he received a phone call on his mobile in which the caller claimed that he was one Arun Mehta who told complainant that file had been approved to which he would get a benefit of Rs.3,22, 500. Col. Singh was also told that his file was lying with K.K Bhuttani IAS (Head of Ministry of Finance). The said Fake Arun Mehta connected him to another cheat of the group claiming to be the AmitAggarwal PA to K.K Bhuttani. He confirmed that approved amount of Rs. 3,22,500/- is lying with them and shortly going to lapse. If he was interested to invest in some other future plans they would shortly remit the above said amount into his bank account. They started giving him regular phone calls from different numbers on the mobile and land line numbers to induce him to invest in a Canadian IPO (Initial Public Offer) Investment plan from which he would get Rs. 10 Crore as return after 16 years on maturity. After receiving many calls from the cheats he fell prey to their trap and started transferring money from his UCO Bank account at Jammu to their bank accounts accumulating to Rs 1.41 Crores.
As per procedure in vogue, an enquiry was initiated by Crime Branch Jammu and during enquiry it has prima facie been established that the suspects have duped the complainant of Rs. 1.41 Cr. on the pretext of investment plan. Thus a formal case is registered against the accused fraudsters U/S 419, 420, 120-B of IPC for investigation.
