Critics Of Gupkar declaration themselves partners of political deceit

Partners of political deceits of yesteryears criticizing signatories of Gupkar declaration don’t have the public approval for the agenda they propagate for the last more than six months as restoration of Article 370 and Article 35 A has become an issue of public approval and silence over it has become a case of public disapproval. The reasons are explicitly and implicitly very clear. Partners of political deceits of past criticize signatories of Gupkar declaration only to seek a new role for themselves in the new power structure in Jammu & Kashmir without hard pressing for the demand of the return of special status under article 370 and article 35 A in case of restoration of statehood to Jammu & Kashmir. This time not a single party but an alliance of six mainstream parties is seeking restoration of Pre-August 5 position in Jammu & Kashmir and as such no single party can impose any decision of it’s own over the five other constituent parties of the alliance. The critics of Gupkar declaration are looking for throwing up a political alternative just to subvert the struggle of the six party alliance for restoration of special status under Article 370 and Article 35 A to Jammu & Kashmir. Since agenda of the six party alliance exclusively seeks restoration of special status under Article 370 and Article 35 A taken away by the incumbent central government on August 5 last year but not the participation in assembly elections under any common minimum program before or after the restoration of statehood, the critics not entertained by the incumbent central government even on new domicile law find themselves fishing in troubled waters. Fact remains that both the signatories of Gupkar declaration and as well as it’s critics are virtually reduced to political pawns of either the top helmsmen of the incumbent central government or the leaders of India’s mainland opposition in the parliament. Though leaders have to lead the people from the front but the tragedy is that Kashmir’s mainstream leaders are led by the people in power and those sitting in the opposition at the centre.

In the fastly changing political scenario the Gupkar declaration has the approval and endorsement of the general public in Jammu & Kashmir but on the contrary the leaders overtly and covertly endorsing the last year’s August 5 decisions of the central government on Jammu & Kashmir are suffering from the crisis of credibility and public acceptability.

No questions should asked over the silence of people against detention of recently released mainstream leader as question remain why people would cry against the detention of leaders who propagate politics either at the whims and wishes of the ruling regime or the parties in opposition at the centre.
