Srinagar: The parents of students of a private school, at Bund Kursoo Rajbagh, Saturday alleged that school administration has asked them to either pay monthly tuition fee for the lockdown period or their wards would be expelled from the school.
The aggrieved parents said their children’s future is at stake as the school administration has been forcing them to pay monthly tuition fee for the lockdown period.
They said the school authorities also threatened them to get their wards admission done in other schools in case they are not in position to pay monthly tuition fee and other miscellaneous charges.
“This is the only school which asks parents to deposit monthly tuition fees from March this year, while other schools have announced fifty percent fee waiver for the lockdown period. We want the administration to take cognizance of the issue so that our children’s future is saved from getting ruined,” a parent said.
He said the continuous lockdown imposed in the aftermath of COVID-19, since March this year has broken the back of economic structure in Kashmir Valley and that the people are not in position to sustain their families as it should be.
Accusing the private school authorities of violating government orders, by asking parents to clear their wards tuition fee for the lockdown period, he said the administration should immediately take note of the issue and hold school authorities answerable for harassing poor parents.
“This is sheer injustice with us; we are poor people surviving on the mercy of Allah. We already face hardships due to lockdown hence any private school which forces parents to deposit monthly tuition fee for lockdown period should be immediately sealed,” he added.
A video in which a lady could be heard appealing the administration to take cognizance of the harassment being meted out to parents by the said school has also gone viral on social media platforms.
“We are asked to either arrange a monthly tuition fee from March this year or your wards will be expelled from the school, isn’t this injustice with poor people. We appeal to the administration to act tough against the private school situated at Kursoo Rajbagh for meting out harassment of students and their parents,” she said in the video.
Despite repeated attempts, the school management couldn’t be contacted for the comments
