Pulwama: In the pursuit of responsive governance and evolving best practising mechanisms towards accessible public services  ARTO Pulwama , Muazzam Ali set the trend by issuing driving licenses on ground  immediately after passing the driving test.

In a novel way , the Motor Vehicles Department in Pulwama Saturday along with men , machinery and logistics issued driving licenses to scores of applicants immediately  passing the driving  test . The ARTO was accompanied by Motor Vehicle Inspectors and other staff .

While sensitizing the applicants regarding Safe driving practices and motor vehicles act, Muazzam Ali said the main motive behind adopting this novel method is to bring transparency in issuing the licenses besides   reposing the faith of the public in the good governance model adopted by the government. He added that the Motor Vehicles Department Pulwama has embarked on the mission of being responsive and accessible.

He appealed to all the people visiting MVD Pulwama to feel free in case they face any inconvenience in registration of vehicles , Issuance of Driving   Fitness certificates ,route permits etc . He said MVD Pulwama is going to launch a helpline regarding Motor Vehicles Act violations besides fulfilling the purpose  of grievance redressal cell.

Meanwhile 24 applicants appeared in the driving test among which 7 qualified the test who were handed over the driving license by ARTO on the spot.

It is worthwhile to mention that District Administration Pulwama has taken some drastic steps in the decongestion of town like scientific management of traffic , shifting of Bus Adda to Drusoo , and blacklisting of vehicles found violating traffic rules
