Int’l Art Exhibition in memory of Late Gobind Kaur inaugurated in Jammu

Srinagar/ Aug,19 : Seventh International Online Art Exhibition organized was on Wednesday by Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA) (Regd.)and Zafar Iqbal Manhas, former Secretary & Vice- President, J&K Academy of Art Culture & Languages, Wednesday. The exhibition has been organized the memory of Late Gobind Kaur, 1st contemporary woman sculptor of Jammu, J&K, to commemorate her death anniversary on 11th August. The paintings, drawings and sculptures of more than 160 artists from eight countries including artists from twenty two states/ union territories of the country have been displayed in the exhibition.

In his online inaugural address Zafar Iqbal Manhas said that the contribution of Gobind Kaur contribution of gobind Kaur in the field of art, particularly, sculpture has been commendable. He added that JKCCA has done great job to remember Gobind Kaur, in the light of her contribution in the field of art. He added that with the efforts of Pt. K K Sharma, President, JKCCA and Sh. O P Sharma, Directo, JKCCA, the J&K Centre for Creative Arts has become a household name in the field of art & culture.

According to O P Sharma, Director, JKCCA & Curator of the show, ‘The exhibition is a deication to Late (Smt.) Gobind Kaur, a sincere and dedicated sculptor of the state who with her hard work and creativity proved to be a renowned sculptor of the state. He said that JKCCA is regularly holding shows and other art & cultural events of JKCCA even during the hard times.

Late (Smt.) Gobind Kaur, a well known artist, had been the student of Late V R Khajuria, a renowned sculptor of Jammu. She started displaying her talent through her art pieces at Jahangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. Her art has been displayed at various places in India and abroad. She was honoured by many organizations for her contribution in the field of sculpture and graphic prints.

The art works of Gobind Kaur have been displayed in the Special Section of the exhibition whereas the works of Mssrs. V S Rahi, New Delhi, N D Jamwal, Gokel Dembi and T S Batra, Jammu, Latika Katt, Varanasi, Dr. Nathu Lal Verma, Jaipur, Padamshree Vijay Sharma, Chamba and Dr. Ramshabad Singh, Saharanpur have been displayed in the Invitees’ Section. The art works of Keyla Hannani Salgado, S. America, Thu Suong Vo, Vietnam, Fareeda Zeba, Aparazita Rahman, Jinnatun Jannat, Nadia Afrin Lagno, S N Ehsan and Monisa Saha, Bangla Desh, Laura Caro and Raghu Dixit, UK, Yakruti Patel, Mamta Patel and Dora Labora, USA, Jamiya Barahikova, Canada and Dinusha Isuri Dissanayaka, Srilanka have been put on display in the separate section meant for the artists from abroad. The other prominent artists whose work has been included in the show are Dr. A K Dixit, New Delhi, B R Bodade, Indore, Prabhinder Lall, Chandigarh, Prof. Sunil Sharma, Lucknow, Romesh Bhosale, Pune, Mintu Deka, Guawahati, Narinder Singh, K S Gill and Dharminder Sharma, Amritsar, Prahlad sharma, Ajmer, Ganesh Sharma, Hira Nagar and Jang S. Verman, Jammu and others.
