ARTO Pulwama conducts Vehicle Checking Drive

Pulwama: Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Pulwama Thursday conducted a vehicle checking drive to streamline vehicular movement in the district. He was accompanied by Inspectors and other officials from Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Pulwama.
During the drive, more than 15 vehicles were challaned and an amount of Rs 8700 was recovered from offenders under various sections of Motor Vehicles Act whereas documents of 15 vehicles were impounded, 3 vehicles were ceased and 27 vehicles were black listed.
Meanwhile illegal parking from main bazar to new hospital was also cleared to decongest the area for smooth traffic movement.
While sensitizing the drivers regarding traffic rules, ARTO said violation of traffic rules leads to road accidents and fatalities. He said adherence to regulations can avert road accidents besides making commutation hassle free. He also appealed transporters to wear masks and follow SoP’s and guidelines issued by administration.
He urged people to avail parking facility in the town as ample parking space has been made available at Old bus stand where people can park their vehicles.
The ARTO warned the drivers to strictly adhere to the traffic rules to avoid any action from the department.
He maintained that checking of vehicles would continue in coming days.
Meanwhile, 200 indoor sports kits consisting of ludo, chess, skipping rope, ring & painting set were distributed among school students in all tehsils of the District.
These kits were distributed by Tehsildars at their Tehsil HQs in presence of BDO’s , ZEO’s and Zonal officers of DYSS of respective areas.
The indoor activities sports kits were distributed to engage children in indoor activities during the Corona pandemic.
