Ensure eligibility of all students before embarking on plans of annual exams: Qayoom Wani tells JK BOSE

Srinagar/Aug,13: Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JK CSF) & Former EJAC President Abdul Qayoom Wani On Thursday hit out at Jammu and Kashmir Board Of School Education (JK BOSE) for taking hasty decisions on the conduct of annual exams gripping panicked among those students who are yet to clear their backlog papers as biannual exams could not be held this year.
In a statement expressed surprise over the issuing of a notification by board of school education for annual exams of higher secondary classes amid frustrating situation of COVID 19 of world pandemic.
“While the BOSE has panicked the students by asking them to submit exam forms up to September 7, 2020,( for 11th class), it has attracted genuine objections from thousands of candidates keeping in view the fact that the notification is silent on their eligibility to appear in the said 11th class annual examination”, Wani said. The notification vide F (JSE/PSA.)KD/20 Dated 6th August 2020 is totally silent about the eligibility of those thousands of candidates who stand enrolled in 11th class on provisional basis for the reason that they had got backlog in one of the subjects last year in matriculation examination and were supposed to clear the backlogs in the subsequent biannual examination scheduled routinely in March- April months but could not be held due to COVID 19 lockdown. Representing the affected students JK CSF Chairman said that BOSE should have included the eligibility status of such candidates in the notification as the last date for submission of forms is nearing shortly .
Wani urged the government to consider the plea of the affected students in time so that they will not lose their one academic year which otherwise will land them into mental trauma besides academic loss.
