Awantipora : Police in Awantipora along with Executive Magistrates and Municipal Committee officials conducted market checking in Awantipora, Tral, Khrew and Pampore areas. The checking was aimed to ensure that only good quality of items are put on sale and to curb black marketing & profiteering of essential commodities. Erring shopkeepers were fined on spot by the Executive Magistrates.
During checking officers in the jurisdiction of Police Station Tral have arrested four butchers identified as Khursheed Ahmad resident of Tral, Nasir Ahmad Rather resident of Shahabad Tral, Ghulam Nabi Ganie resident of Tral and Ghulam Mohammad Lone resident of Amirabad Tral for selling meat at exorbitant rates. Accordingly, case vide FIR numbers 66/2020, 67/2020, 68/2020 and 69/2020 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Tral and investigation into the cases have been initiated. Police have requested the traders and shopkeepers not to indulge in overpricing, black marketing, hoarding or any violation of essential commodities otherwise strict action under law will be taken against the violators. General public of the areas has hailed the action of Awantipora police.
