Talat Parvez inaugurates one-day int’l webinar at Amar Singh College Srinagar

Srinagar: A one-Day International webinar was organized by Amar Singh College here Wednesday titled “Leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Healthcare- Special Reference to COVID-19 Pandemic.”
The event was inaugurated by Commissioner Secretary Higher Education Department, Talat Parvez Rohella.
In his inaugural speech he deliberated upon the significance and relevance of the title of the webinar and applauded role of the college for organizing such a webinar in these testing times.
He expressed hope that more such programs will continue to be organized in future for the benefit of students, teaching and research community.
Prof. (Dr.)Yaseen Ahmad Shah , Patron and Director Colleges, J&K Higher Education Department also spoke on the event and emphasized upon the need to build capacities of students, researchers and faculty members in the emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning and Internet of Things(IoT), so as to update themselves and keep pace with advancements made in innovative technologies worldwide.
Prof. Bashir Ahmad Rather, Principal and Program Director, also addressed the session and expressed his satisfaction over the conduct of the program and informed that the college is contemplating to conduct more such online workshops and webinars.
Dr. Syed Mutahar Aaqib, Program Coordinator in his opening remarks introduced the theme and importance of the webinar.
He informed the audience that almost 2100 participants across the globe have registered for the webinar.
The participants included faculty members of the College, Research Scholars, Doctors, Scientists and Students. He also introduced the Speaker for the Webinar, Dr.Anand Nayyar from Duy Tan University, Da Nang, Vietnam to the audience.
Dr.Anand Nayyar in his elaborated presentation introduced the concept of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare and the application Internet of Things(IoT) in Healthcare. He stressed upon data-analysis for Smart-Systems like Chatbots, Robotics and Cobotics which can be deployed in Healthcare systems for better delivery mechanis
He informed that application of AI would assist in decreasing the spread of any virus and shall definitely keep a check on pandemics like COVID -19. He detailed on the development of AI-powered platform to model small-molecule drugs as part of its discovery and development efforts. He demonstrated the usage of freely available COVID-19 datasets on Kaggle and the application of recent advances in NLP and AI techniques to generate new insights in support of ongoing fight against COVID -19.
The webinar was conducted over the Zoom Meeting Platform and due to overwhelming response of participants both from within and outside India the webinar was live-streamed on YouTube channel.
The Webinar was followed by an interactive session which was moderated by Program Coordinator, Prof. Syed Ishfaq Manzoor, who in his concluding remarks stated that this was the first webinar in the series of webinars being organized by the college and encouraged the participants for feedback so that shortcomings, if any, may be overcome in coming webinars.
