DLSA Jammu provides ration to 15000 needy persons

Jammu: Under the aegis of Justice Gita Mittal, Chief Justice of J&K High Court and Patron-in-Chief of J&K Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Jammu under the Chairmanship of Sanjeev Gupta, Chairman District legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Jammu distributed dry rations, medicines and other essentials among 15,000 persons through its Para Legal Volunteers.
The ration was distributed in response to the distressed calls received on the helpline numbers, especially established by DLSA Jammu, to mitigate the adverse economic impact on the families of those who have lost their livelihoods, whose livelihoods are under threat or who are temporary out of work due to the present ongoing unprecedented human crisis at Satwari, Janipur Chowk, Bantalab, Muthi, Panjtirthi, Janipur Court Complex, Shakti Nagar, Baskhi Nagar, Rajpura, Narwal, Channi, Jammu etc.
The help was provided in consultation with local Transport Union, Auto Drivers Union, Matador Drivers Union, Labour Union by the committee headed by Y.P Kotwal, 1st Addl. District & Sessions Judge, Jammu assisted by Secretary DLSA Jammu, Sandeep Gandotra, Spl. Mobile Magistrate, Passenger Tax Jammu, Prem Sagar, City Judge Jammu, Dinesh Gupta, Spl. Mobile Magistrate (Traffic) Jammu and Slahuddin Ahmed, Addl Mobile Magistrate (Traffic) Jammu, out of the funds being raised by the volunteer contribution of Judicial Officers and ministerial staff of District Court Janipur Jammu.
In addition, the DLC helped about 1500 stranded migrant labourers, working in the un-organized sector in District Jammu to reach their destination/native place, by getting their names registered in the passenger list of Shramik Trains, who had asked for help on helpline numbers established by District Legal Services Authority: Jammu for them.
The DLSA Jammu also provided legal assistance/aid, Counselling, medicines, food, essential need to 5000 individuals including Women, elders, Senior Citizens, Children after receiving their distressed calls on helpline numbers set by District Legal Services Authority Jammu for listening to the grievances of Domestic Violence victims relating to shelters, tenants with regard to their eviction and for ascertaining the welfare of the persons who have sought maintenance and those in need of assistance.
Retainer Lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers of District Legal Services Authority, Jammu are also constantly providing support to the specially abled person, rough sleepers and homeless people in their jurisdictions, with respect to their health, welfare and well being in addition to the holding of awareness programmes/events both in-person and via virtual mode making the masses aware about the practices to be adopted/exercised for flattening the Corona Virus curve, in association with various NGO’s, Police Department and District Administration. The DLSA Jammu, through its Para Legal Volunteers has also helped local administration in distribution of essential relief among the masses in District Jammu
