Srinagar/July, 27: Ab Qayoom Wani the Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JK CSF) on Monday  demanded judicial probe into recent  media disclosures about COVID 19 violations and sought  measures for mitigating the sufferings of  patients, widows, destitute sand the COVID-hit victims

In a statement issued here on Monday Wani voiced serious concern over the pathetic condition  of the victims of COVID 19 and   increasing woes  of the hapless populations  including huge losses in trade and education sectors triggered by  lockdown since August 5, 2019 .Wani said  issues ranging from Covid patients’ care to  pathetic condition of the widows and destitutes are of huge concern and demand immediate attention of the government.
He  said  tough there is no denial that the frontline warriors, medicos and other employees are working day and night to save the lives of the covid patients while putting their own lives at risk but the system dealing with the  classification of covid and non covid hospitals is not working well as the quarantine centers are unhygienic. He alleged that the sophisticated and potential hygienic hotels are not utilized for the purposes of emergency health facilities . Wani lambasted  the govt over shortage of funds as even the govt employees and traders also donated millions of rupees to the cause in last couple of months . He said since accountability remains a million dollar question JK CSF reiterates it’s demand for the constitution of a monitoring committee with the regrets that the idea was never given a serious  thought by the govt. Wani said absence  of an accountability committee gives weightage to suspicion of malicious, corrupt and nepotistic practices.
Wani demanded indepth probe into the misdeeds and alleged multi crore scam revealed by media reports, adding that  misappropriation of public money in the name of COVID 19 management and quarantine centres must be probed by a judicial panel. Reminding about  a media-Youtube report over making of a quarantine centre at SKIMS Soura by it’s Director in violation of norms wherein covid patients were supposed to be referred to here at Level-3 from other hospitals, Wani alleged that  the hospital administration violated the norms and even made a quarantine centre there thus making the hospital and Soura area vulnerable for the covid 19 patients .Wani further said that the order passed by the MHFW on 2nd July about the asymptomatic and pre symptomatic covid patients about their home quarantine too was thrown to winds in J&K as it involves money misappropriation  by virtue of food supply and other billing etc.
He said according to the Youtube video,  report was done in nexus with some administrative officers in the secretariat. Wani said JK CSF demands  that this all must be probed by J and K High Court.
Meanwhile Wani warned that if banks particularly it’s  branches are not closed and blanket ban is not imposed on non kashmiri labourers the intensifying  Corona spread  will bring havoc to Jammu and Kashmir .
Wani said that JKCSF appeals the govt and all welfare organizations to revive their service-culture amid this pandemic ahead of Eid Ul Azha  and speed up the helping and rehabilitation process to wipe the tears of covid-hit victims, widows, destitute and the other needy people who lost their nears and dears or livelihood or are wandering into a traumatic life . Wani appreciated the role of welfare organisations & particularly appealed The Athrout, J& K Yateem Foundation, J&K Yateem Trust, Sakhawat Centre Jammu Kashmir, Help Poor Foundation besides masjid and Mohallah commmitiees and volunteers of JKCSF to revive their mechanism of services as per the new needs.
Wani also appealed the employee’s organizations to come forward and join hands to continue fighting the l emerging challenges.
Wani appealed the people to follow SOP’s,WHO guidelines and health advisories besides maintaining social distancing and proper hygienic atmosphere on the eve of eid-ul-azha to defeat this dreaded virus of covid-19.
Wani said that JKCSF believes people of J&K will come out of this horrendous trouble by fighting it bravely and helping each other like they fought other natural calamities in distant past .
