Finally the cat is out of bag with a controversial statement from Congress ruled Chief Minister of Uttrakhand Bhupesh Baghel over the role of dissident Congress leader Sachin pilot in the release of National Conference President Farooq Abdullah a three time former Chief Minister of erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir state  and Vice President Omar Abdullah another former Chief Minister of erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir state in March this year after several months of their detention under PSA (public safety act). Though none else than the National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah himself has threatened to sue Uttrakhand Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for making what he called ‘a false and fabricated statement’ over his own release and that of his father Farooq Abdullah, but the critics in media and civil society question the silence of both senior and junior Abdullah in the post August 5,2019 political scenario of Jammu & Kashmir after their release in March this year. Whatever may be the contentions of Omar Abdullah and his party National Conference over the controversial remarks of Uttrakhand Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel but the fact remains that silence of Abdullahs’ after their release from detention under PSA too has created serious doubts about their role in post August 5, 2019 political scenario in the hearts and minds of the local populations in Jammu & Kashmir particularly the Kashmir valley. Abdullahs’ themselves know all about the political consciousness of the people of Jammu & Kashmir and they can’t dispute the hard reality that political actions of both mainstream and separatist politicians never goes unnoticed in Jammu & Kashmir particularly the Kashmir valley. The people even question the discrimination shown by the Jammu & Kashmir Government in the withdrawal of PSA in cases of Abdullahs’ vis-à-vis the case of Mehbooba Mufti the arch rival of Abdullahs’. The Uttrakhand Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s controversial  statement has in fact brought to light the discriminatory procedures shown by the Jammu & Kashmir Government in withdrawal of PSAs in cases of Abdullahs’.

By all standards of political understandabilities the controversial remarks of Uttrakhand Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel over the release of senior and junior Abdullah have put into doubt the role of both Abdullahs’ and Muftis’in the post August 5,2019 political scenario in Jammu & Kashmir as both National Conference and PDP have in their latest statements reiterated their stands on fight for restoration of Jammu & Kashmir special status just to clear the doubts in the hearts and minds of the people.

Since all other PDP leaders barring Mehbooba Mufti detained under PSA too have been released without house detention restrictions long back, the people equally critical of the noticeable silence of the released PDP leaders in the post August 5,2019 political  scenario in Jammu & Kashmir. The critics even raise question over the tweets of Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter iltija Mufti who has been handling her mother’s personal twitter handle after her arrest on August 5 last year.
