Srinagar: Upping the ante at Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for implying that Congress rebel Sachin Pilot’s moves were linked to he and his father being released from detention, NC vice president Omar Abdullah on Monday said the problem with today’s Congress is that it doesn’t know its friends from its opponents.

“This is why you people are in the mess you are in,” Mr Abdullah, who is former chief minister of J&K, wrote in response to Mr Baghel tweet.

“You can send your answer to my lawyers. This is what is wrong with the @INCIndia today, you don’t know your friends from your opponents. This is why you people are in the mess you are in. Your “question” was malicious & will not go uncontested,” Mr Abdullah wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.

Mr Abdullah was responding to tweet by Mr Baghel, which read, “Please do not try to turn this tragic demise of democracy into an opportune moment @OmarAbdullah ji. The ‘allegation’ was only a question asked, and we will keep asking it, as will the country.”

“I am fed up of the downright malicious and false allegation that what Sachin Pilot is doing is somehow linked to my or my father’s release from detention earlier this year. Enough is enough. Mr @bhupeshbaghel will be hearing from my lawyers. Cc @RahulGandhi @INCIndia @rssurjewala,” the NC vice president had earlier tweeted.

Mr Pilot was sacked as deputy chief minister of Rajasthan and Pradesh Congress Committee chief last week over his failure to attend the two Congress legislature party meetings and leading a rebellion against the CM.

Omar Abdullah was on March 24 released after about eight months following revocation of his detention under Public Safety Act (PSA), days after his father and NC president Farooq Abdullah was released.

Omar Abdullah, Farooq Abdullah and another former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti – besides dozens of other former ministers and legislators were detained on August 5, when centre abrogated Article 370 and Article 35 A, besides bifurcated the state into two Union Territories.

Barring Ms Mehbooba, PSA has been revoked against all mainstream leaders in the valley. Ms Mehbooba, who is the president of PDP, remained lodged in her residence in Gupkar after it was converted into a sub-jail.
