Srinagar/June 2: Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said as part of the efforts to undermine the political struggle of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, deceitful and divisive statements are issued by people at the helm in the Govt of India.
In a statement issued here on Friday Mirwaiz said the political struggle of the people of J&K for self-determination is not confined to the Kashmir valley only but is spread across from Kargil to Chenab valley be it Doda, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Poonch other areas is fully supported and carried forward by the people of these regions.
Mirwaiz said repeated shut downs, peaceful protests and condemnation of state oppression against aggression and killings in the valley in these areas show their complete support and commitment to the just cause being pursued by the people of the region.
Mirwaiz said the fact is that it is actually a section in the two and a half districts in Jammu division that do not support the people’s movement.
Mirwaiz said the people of Chenab Valley have made a great contribution and offered priceless sacrifices towards the freedom struggle which can never be forgotten .Mirwaiz said that although Hurriyat leadership is being barred from visiting these areas and meeting their brethren, despite all odds, people of Chenab Valley are in a constant touch with the pro-freedom leadership.
Addressing Friday congregational gathering at the historic Jamia Masjid on the first Friday of Ramzaan, Mirwaiz who was released from his six-day long house detention, said that Kashmir struggle is based on the principle of justice and people are committed to continue their fight for the right to self determination The APHC chairman said the coming together of the resistance leadership in Kashmir has unnerved New Delhi, which is trying it’s level best to discredit the movement and its leadership and now they are trying to mislead people in India and the international community that Kashmir’s freedom movement was confined to few districts and communities.
Mirwaz said that let those in power in India and their local collaborators get it clear that jailing detaining arresting or gagging the pro movement leadership will not affect the determination of the people and their firmness in striving for their political aspirations and will to decide their destiny. Mirwaiz said It is a people’s movement and directly draws its succor from them and this movement will remain alive as long as it lives in the hearts and minds of the people whether leadership is there to guide them or behind bars.
Mirwaiz paid glowing tributes to the two youth who were martyred in a gun-battle at Sopore stating that the Kashmir struggle has entered into a very crucial phase” and given the nature of sacrifices offered by the Kashmiri youth we are duty bound to take the ongoing freedom struggle to its ultimate goal. He said even in the holy and sacred month of fasting, Ramadhan, authorities doesn’t refrain from committing atrocities on the people as restrictions continue to be imposed on the movement of pro-freedom leaders and activists which has become a routine affair of the authorities.
Mirwaiz condemned the continuous detention of Syed Ali Geelani at his Hyderpora residence who is not even being allowed to offer Friday prayers. Mirwaiz demanded the immediate release of all the pro-freedom leaders and youth who remain lodged in various jails across Kashmir.
Mirwaiz also felicitated people of Kashmir and the entire Muslim world on the auspicious occasion of Ramadhan and prayed for the resolution of all the problems being confronted by the Muslim ummah.
Mirwaiz also announced that he will be addressing a religious gathering at on 08 Ramadhan at Masjid Hasnain Bota Kadal Srinagar while on the 10 Ramadhan on the eve of death anniversary of Hazrat Khadija(RA), he will address a gathering at Aastan-e-Aliya Naqshband Sahab(RA) after Zuhr prayers.
