Jammu/July,10 : An army Havildar was killed as Pakistani troops opened fire and lobbed shells from across the LoC in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district on Thursday night.
Reports said Pakistan resorted to firing and shelling around 12.35 am in which an army Havildar received serious splinter injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Jammu-based defence spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand confirmed the death. The deceased soldier has been identified as Havildar Sambur Gurung, a native of Nepal.
The defence spokesperson said Havildar Sambur Gurung was a brave, motivated and a sincere soldier. “The nation will always remain indebted to him for his supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty,” he said. The body of the army jawan has been shifted to Nowshera for medico-legal formalities.
