Pulwama: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Dr. Raghav Langer on Wednesday launched several activities to mark the observance of Kissan Pakhwada from July 7 to July 21, 2020.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner said Kisan Pakhwada is being observed to enhance the flow of advances in the agriculture sector and double the income of farmers by way of their cent percent involvement in agricultural related welfare schemes like KCC, PM-KISAN, RKVY and NMSA etc.
The DDC directed the concerned officers to work in tandem to make the programme successful and urged upon them to achieve the target of hundred percent coverage of the farmers associated with agriculture, horticulture, sheep, fisheries and other allied activities under centrally sponsored schemes like PM Kisan and Kisan Credit Card scheme.
He also asked for active involvement of the PRI members in the programme for better results and directed the concerned officers to ensure adherence of COVID-19 related SOPs and guidelines, while carrying out various activities related to the programme.
Regarding the awareness campaigns, the DDC directed the concerned officers from Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, other departments and bank authorities to organise special camps in the district during the programme to aware the farmers about the benefits of KCC loans and other centric and UT government schemes meant for the welfare of farmers.

A booklet containing information regarding the activities to be carried out during the programme was also launched on the occasion.
The DDC urged upon all the farmers of the district to attend the camps to be organised by the district administration during the programme and get themselves enrolled under KCC and other centrally sponsored schemes.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, District Panchayat Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer and Lead District Manager were present on the occasion.
