DDC B’la constitutes committees for Dev of border blocks

Baramulla:  District Development Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo Saturday chaired a meeting of the HoDs of various departments at Boniyar area of the district to discuss various measures and modalities for ensuring the saturation of Border Blocks across all sectors/schemes.

During the meeting,  a comprehensive discussion on different strategies for developing border areas was held. On the occasion, the DDC constituted committees at Sub-divisional and village levels to overlook the implementation and monitoring of the entire saturation programme besides monitoring the pace and progress of each scheme in their jurisdictions.

Speaking on the occasion, DDC emphasized upon the committee members to work in coordination and cohesion for the desired results. He reiterated that administration is committed to develop border and remote areas on various aspects for which various policies and programmes are afoot. Moreover, DDC directed the concerned officers to work with added zeal and enthusiasm and ensure that all the undertaken works are completed within the fixed timeframe.

Meanwhile, the concerned Block Development Council (BDC) chairperson highlighted various issues and demands of vital public importance including construction of community/individual bunkers for securing the human lives during cross LoC shelling, restoration of collapsed Boniyar bridge, effective implementation of Border Area Development Programme (BADP) etc.

Other issues that were raised, on the occasion, includes infrastructure development in PHC Boniyar, establishment of Fire Service Station for Boniyar, regulation of gypsum extraction, development of mobile towers, deployment of teachers for community level schooling in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak, 100% coverage of beneficiaries under Ayushman Bharat programme, development of border tourism and other demands pertaining to developmental concerns.

The DDC gave a patient hearing to the grievances and demands and assured that all the issues shall be redressed in a time bound manner. He informed that about 40 community/individual bunkers have been approved among which 32 bunkers have been allotted. He also said the proposal for the establishment of Fire Service Station for Boniyar have been forwarded to the concerned office.

Dr Itoo further added that administration has started the community level schooling in every area.

DC Baramulla, also sought cooperation from various stakeholders of the society in the complete eradication of drug menace adding that drug abuse is detrimental to the stability of the society.
