Srinagar/June, 28: Director Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) has refuted the reports splashed about the stocking of LPG cylinders in Kashmir and said such reports are totally baseless and far from the factual position      Offering clarification about LPG  stocks in Kashmir valley through a statement issued to Kashmir Horizon the Director Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Bashir Ahmad Khan said “some people are spreading all kinds of rumours by referring to a letter, written by Director, Food and civil supplies, Kashmir and addressed to Nodal coordinator for Oil companies in J&K, in connection with “ensuring adequate stocking of LPG in Kashmir”.
Clarifying that the letter in question  has been written by the Director, Kashmir, to prevent any shortfall of essential commodities ( particularly LPG) during the ensuing Monsoon season, the statement said “we all know that the NH-44, between Ramban-JT stretch, behaves in an unpredictable manner during the rains” .

The statement further said “currently, we maintain nearly a month of stock in Kashmir. We have requested the LPG companies to explore the feasibility of maintaining the stock for nearly 2 months to prevent any panic situations that may arise in the event of highway closure for longer duration or on multiple occasions during the next three months”.
