Div Com (J) reviews Yatra arrangements

Jammu: Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma, Thursday chaired a meeting of the heads of concerned departments to review arrangements being put in place to ensure smooth conduct of annual Amarnath Yatra.
The meeting was attended by IGP Jammu, Mukesh Singh, IG Traffic, T Namgyal, Director Tourism, R K Katoch, Additional CEO, SASB, Anup Soni, Director Health Services, Dr Renu Sharma, ADDC Jammu, Ramesh Chander, Director FCS&CA, Jatinder Singh, Joint Director Information, Namrita Dogra, RTO Jammu, Dhananter Singh besides senior functionaries of Jal Shakti, PWD, JPDCL, JMC, SRTC, Traffic, NHAI, BSNL, religious heads and other concerned.
A threadbare discussion was held regarding various arrangements being made for the yatra including accommodation, security, traffic arrangements, water, power, food, hygiene and sanitation, etc.
The Div Com emphasized the need for putting in place special arrangements this year in view of Covid-19 Pandemic for which he directed the Health Department to make arrangements for sampling of pilgrims who will arrive here from different states and UTs for Amarnath Yatra.
It was informed in the meeting that all the pilgrims who will arrive in Jammu would be sampled and tested for Covid-19 as precautionary measure.
The Div Com asked Jammu Municipal Corporation to ensure sanitation, fumigation at Yatri Niwas besides ensuring provision of mobile toilets. He also asked the tourism department for maintenance and face lifting of Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar well before the Yatra.
He had detailed discussion on security arrangements, transportation facilities for pilgrims, accommodation, constitution of Quick Response Teams, setting up of Langars, setting up of communication centers, medical facilities, sanitation, mobile toilet vans in Bhagwati Nagar area, uninterrupted supply of electricity, adequate water supply, Traffic arrangements.
Later, the Divisional Commissioner along with other concerned officers visited Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar to inspect the arrangements.
